The Community Partners Spotlight is a virtual opportunity to learn more about community organization across Chatham. We know that the work of justice is not done in isolation and we're proud to have partners who share in our values. Please join us on Thursday, March 20th for our first Spotlight with the West Chatham NAACP.

Racial Equity Fundamentals Workshop

Join us this Spring for the Racial Equity Fundamentals workshop is our most requested workshop across the state and is presented over a series of four workshops with a facilitated discussion on equity as outlined below:

  1. Equity Fundamentals. Having a shared language brings attendees to a joint understanding of equity and how it is related to systemic racism and oppression. This module offers participants information on core concepts, terminology, and theories to show how racism has been constructed and maintained.
  2. An Historical Examination. In this module we will briefly examine the historical impact of racism and the current implications today. Knowing and understanding what systemic racism has meant through history allows us to explain the current implications today.
  3. What is Power? Participants will discover the value in looking beneath the surface to employ our sagacious mind. When sagacity is used effectively, participants will be able to empathetically consider different perspectives to communicate and lead more equitably and to uncover solutions that ensure shared values remain intact.
  4. Equity in Action: Community Organizing. This module explores community organizing principles with a racial equity lens.  Applicable strategies to take action in your community are shared.
